Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after having back surgery.
Adams joined Bournemouth in a deal in excess of £20m from Leeds last summer.
However, the USA midfielder endured an injury-plagued debut campaign with the Cherries restricting him to four Premier League appearances.
He subsequently played for his country at the Copa America.
Sources have said Bournemouth advised USA staff to take care with Adams.
In the end, he featured in all three group games, plus a pre-tournament friendly against Brazil, including the full 90 minutes of the final match against Uruguay as the USA made an earlier than expected exit from the competition.
