OAKLAND -- Yoan Moncada’s major-league debut got a bit overshadowed Friday night. That’s because it came late in another memorable evening on the David Ortiz farewell tour.
The 40-year-old Boston Red Sox designated hitter, who’s set to retire at the end of the season, enjoyed a perfect night -- 2-for-2 with a walk and three RBIs -- as the Red Sox pummeled the A’s 16-2.
And Travis Shaw, who figures to lose playing time to Moncada at third base, merely hit a homer and two doubles. Shaw picked up his fourth five-RBI game this season.
