NEW YORK — The New York Yankees have signed former UCLA right-hander James Kaprielian, the 16th overall pick in the June draft.
Kaprielian agreed to a minor league contract Wednesday with a $2.65 million signing bonus.
The 6-foot-4 Kaprielian was 10-4 with a 2.03 ERA and had 114 strikeouts in 106 2-3 innings for the Bruins as a junior. In May, Kaprielian combined with David Berg to throw the first no-hitter in UCLA history, a 1-0 victory over Arizona in 10 innings.
