The Red Sox had a late afternoon day game in the series finale with the Yankees. The Sox had rookie Henry Owens on the mound vs. Tanaka for the Yankees. The game started out well with the Sox getting Owens a run, but then it went downhill quickly as Owens absolutely fell apart in the 2nd inning. The Sox offense rallied back and made Joe Girardi have to use his high leverage relievers down the stretch, but the Yankees still easily coasted to victory.
The Sox offense got on the scoreboard first when they scored a single run in the bottom of the 1st.
