Xander Bogaerts and the Red Sox are close to finalizing a six-year contract worth $120 million, a source tells MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.
Bogaerts, who turned 26 last October 1, would be eligible for free agency at the end of this season.
Rob Bradford of WEEI writes that there is "a strong likelihood a deal will be announced Monday".
Bogaerts will earn $12 million in 2019. The expected extension would run from 2020 to 2025 (when he would be 33 years old).
Alex Speier tweeted that there would be an opt-out for Bogaerts after 2022 and a $20 million vesting team option for 2026 (if Bogaerts has 535 plate appearances in 2025 and is healthy at the end of that season).
