Worth the wait: Red Sox introduce J.D.

J.D. Martinez is officially the newest member of the Red Sox.

A week after agreeing to terms with Martinez, Boston finalized a five-year, $110 million contract with the slugger Monday morning during a news conference at JetBlue Park at Fenway South. Martinez will wear No. 28, and he is expected to see time at outfield and designated hitter.

"It's been a long process, and I'm happy just to put everything behind me and finally just go out and play baseball," Martinez said. "I'm excited for the task at hand. ... Winning is No. 1 and bringing a championship back to Boston is the ultimate goal, and I'm happy to be a part of it.
