With Koji on DL, Ziegler to serve as closer

BOSTON -- Red Sox closer Koji Uehara, who left Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Giants with a right pectoral strain, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday. Boston called up right-hander Noe Ramirez from Triple-A Pawtucket to replace Uehara.

Uehara struck out Brandon Belt, then issued a ball to Buster Posey before walking off the mound and signaling to the dugout.

The 41-year-old said after the game that he felt something before the strikeout pitch to Belt.

Uehara's injury is a big blow to the team's bullpen.
