Wilyer Abreu set to return to Red Sox roster from injured list

CINCINNATI — The Red Sox are about to get one of their better players back on the roster.

Wilyer Abreu rejoined the team Friday and is expected to be activated Saturday. The 25-year-old outfielder had an .829 OPS over 53 games and was outstanding defensively before he went on the injured list June 4 with a sprained right ankle.

Abreu was 3 for 12 with two home runs and a walk during a three-game rehabilitation assignment with Triple A Worcester.
