Wieters' homer leads Orioles past Blue Jays 5-3

BALTIMORE — Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter considered taking Matt Wieters out of the game after the catcher took a hard foul ball off his mask in the fifth inning.

That proved to be a game-changing decision.

Wieters hit a go-ahead, two-run homer off Jason Grilli in the eighth to lead the Orioles to a 5-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.

Baltimore pulled within three games of the first-place Blue Jays, who had a four-game winning streak snapped. After losing the opener 5-1, the Orioles will look to gain more ground in the series finale Wednesday.
