When key Red Sox players could become free agents

With the Red Sox’ season over thanks to a disappointing American League Divisional Series exit against the Astros, attention now turns to the offseason. Fortunately, the core of young talent on the Red Sox roster still has a few years before free agency becomes a concern.

In the short term, here’s the list of Red Sox free agents heading into the 2017-2018 offseason (age in parenthesis):

Fernando Abad, relief pitcher (31)

Blaine Boyer, relief pitcher (36)

Rajai Davis, outfielder (36)

Doug Fister, starting pitcher (33)

Kyle Kendrick, starting pitcher (33)

Mitch Moreland, first baseman (32)

Eduardo Nunez, infielder (30)

Addison Reed, relief pitcher (28)

Fernando Rodriguez, relief pitcher (36)

Of the group, Nunez, Moreland and Reed will probably draw the most attention.
