What Emma Tiedemann, Rylee Pay said about being the first female duo to broadcast a Red Sox game

Emma Tiedemann and Rylee Pay became the first pair of women to broadcast a Red Sox game when the team faced off against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.

The play-by-play and color analysts are regular broadcasters for the Portland Sea Dogs, and made history when they took their spots in the broadcast booth and covered all nine innings of the Women’s Celebration Game at Fenway Park.

“It’s really cool to be able to have a little girl listen or a little boy think, ‘Oh, OK, girls can do that, too,’” Tiedemann told the Boston Globe, acknowledging the women who came before them that paved the way for last night’s historic broadcast, including Yankees announcer and Newton-native Suzyn Waldman.
