A little Red Sox reunion broke out in San Diego of all places on Saturday between the Dodgers and Padres.
In the bottom of the ninth of Saturday’s game between the two ball clubs, the Padres were down 2-0 but had runners at second and third with two outs, threatening to tie the game up. Padres outfielder Tommy Pham knocked a pitch into right-center field that appeared to be dropping for a hit.
However, Dodgers center fielder Mookie Betts made a diving catch, forcing the final out of the game. The sight of Betts making a spectacular catch in center field isn’t a new one for Red Sox fans, who saw Betts make similar catches over his six seasons in Boston.
