The last day of the MLB draft concluded Wednesday, and a number of locals were selected in the final rounds.
Here's a wrapup of those taken:
- Florence native Erik Ostberg, a catcher who played his college ball at Hartford, was drafted in the 13th round by the Tampa Bay Rays.
- UMass-Lowell center fielder Chris Sharpe, a Burlington native, was selected in the 14th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
- Brendan King, a right-handed starting pitcher from Brookline, who played at Holy Cross, was taken in the 20th round by the Chicago Cubs.
