For second baseman Vaughn Grissom, Tuesday’s series-opener against the Giants has been a long time coming.
Grissom, who came to Boston in late December as part of the Chris Sale trade with the Braves, has yet to make his Red Sox debut. The 23-year-old missed the first month of the season due to a groin injury. However, after completing a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester, Grissom could be making his way into the lineup just in time to take on San Francisco.
“If everything goes well, I do believe he’s going to be with us,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Sunday before his team’s 5-4 win over the Cubs, per the Globe’s Julian McWilliams.
