Comparisons have often been made between the present Red Sox team and the 1965 squad which went 62-100 and finished ninth.
The 65 squad was just bad. Some of its players were Felix Mantilla( the anti-Brock Holt-couldn’t field at any position) and “Automatic” reliever Dick Radatz (who wasn’t as automatic anymore). Others included Bob Tillman, Jay Ritchie,
Dennis Bennett, aging Frank Malzone, and others that only us old-timers can remember. Carl Yastrzemski and Tony Conigliaro, whose careers would soon go in opposite directions, were about the only ones worth watching by the meager crowds at Fenway.
The 2015 group is more frustrating, because it involves unrealized potential.
