The Red Sox’ patchwork bullpen was among the best in baseball during the month of April, but May brings the promise of two key arms joining the fold for late-inning upgrades.
Both Tyler Thornburg and Carson Smith have extended their rehab throwing programs to 150 feet. Smith is scheduled to get on a mound tomorrow, and Thornburg could throw a bullpen soon after.
“While their rehab schedules differ a little bit,” manager John Farrell said. “In Tyler’s case, probably a little bit longer than first anticipated, they’re both making progress. So, back to the mound for both here in the coming days.
