Travis Shaw did not come into last night’s game with much fanfare, or any, really. Starting at first base and hitting eighth, he entered the contest with zero major league hits in 10 plate appearances.
But by the end of the night, Shaw was impossible to ignore. Not only did the 25-year-old get that elusive first hit, but he played a central role in a comeback that saw the Red Sox earn a 4-3 win against the Miami Marlins in front of 36,863 fans at Fenway Park.
Shaw had three hits, including a one-out single in the seventh that led to the game-winning rally.
