Torey Lovullo manages Red Sox with shaved head to honor John Farrell

Interim Red Sox manager Torey Lovullo made a promise to his friend, manager John Farrell.

When Farrell started to lose his hair due to the chemotherapy he was going through to treat his Stage 1 lymphoma, Lovullo vowed he’d shave his head, too.

On Saturday morning, one day after Farrell reported to Fenway Park after a long day of treatment, Lovullo came through on his promise and managed the Red Sox with a shaven head under his ballcap.

“You'll see he doesn't have much hair right now,” Lovullo said. “It's all an adjustment for us. But I made a commitment to him when he told me that he was going to go through this process that I'd shave my head when we got to that point, and yesterday was that point.
