COMMENTARY
A six-run eighth inning wasn’t the best finish in Boston sports on Sunday, not by a long shot (or a layup), but it was quite the exclamation point on a picture-perfect 48 hours at Fenway Park.
On Saturday, Tanner Houck — one of the potential-laden arms plugged into the bottom half of the starting rotation — pounded the strike zone and made big pitches when he needed to in 5 u2154 shutout innings. Matt Strahm and Garrett Whitlock finished, and Alex Verdugo crushed a mistake for all the runs they’d need.
