Coming into this season, I would have been the first to tell you that Tanner Houck belongs in the Red Sox bullpen. I didn’t think he threw enough strikes to be a starter. I didn’t think he had the arsenal to get lefties out. I didn’t think he could get through a lineup three times.
Last Wednesday, as Houck was mowing down opposing hitters I assumed it was nothing more than a fortunate outing, with batted balls finding gloves at every opportunity. I arrived home from Fenway before 10 PM and still felt energized following the sprint of a game I had just witnessed.
