One of my favorites teachers in high school was Mr. Harvey, who taught all sorts of history classes. One of his favorite things to remind all of his classes was that “history may not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme.” The point being that even though the exact same thing rarely happens throughout history, but you’d better pay attention to what happened before you or you are doomed to succumb to similar consequences. There are plenty of examples of this throughout history and even today, but we’ll steer clear of the real-world discussion that this surely brings to mind.
