The Boston Red Sox celebrated their ninth World Series championship with champagne and an appropriate tune: Queen’s “We Are the Champions.”
Then they switched to two songs the team has claimed this postseason.
Eduardo Rodriguez lofted a speaker onto his shoulder in the Dodger Stadium visitor’s clubhouse, belting out “New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra along with his teammates.
Aaron Judge blasted the song on a boombox in Fenway Park after the Yankees beat the Sox in Game 2 of the ALDS. The Sox retaliated by playing Sinatra’s ode to the city in the Yankee Stadium visitor’s clubhouse after they clinched that series, then trolled their rivals once more by playing it again as World Series champions.
