The Cleveland Indians designated former Red Sox DH Hanley Ramirez for assignment

The Cleveland Indians designated Hanley Ramirez for assignment Saturday.

The former Red Sox DH departed to make room on the Indians’ roster for star shortstop Francisco Lindor, who has missed the regular season thus far with a strained right calf and sprained left ankle.

We have made a roster move:
– Activated INF Francisco Lindor from the 10-day IL

Ramirez made Cleveland’s 25-man roster out of spring training after being released by the Red Sox last May.
