Nobody can defuse a situation quite like Terry Francona can.
So upon his early-morning arrival at Massachusetts General Hospital to visit friend John Farrell just before the Red Sox manager’s first chemotherapy session yesterday, Francona cut through the anxiety and concern and got down to the business at hand.
Like, reminding Farrell that some taxi rides are not cheap.
“I told (Farrell) point blank, ‘Man, I’m not here as your friend.’ I said, ‘You owe me 20 dollars. If something happens to you, I want my 20 bucks,’” Francona, the ex-Sox and current Cleveland Indians manager, said.
