In a blog I wrote on June 14 of last season, I wrote of Brock Holt’s 2012 trade in deal involving Joel Hanrahan and Marc Melancon as a “throw in”. I also wrote of him a super sub with a .281 average, .711 OPS and base-stealing ability. I also expressed the feeling that he was more value than previous utility men like Jerry Adair, John Kennedy and Steve Lyons.
Holt made the Red Sox to stay in 2014. He soon produced a sensational catch and a walk-off homer. By the end of the season, he had played every position except pitcher and catcher.
