BOSTON -- The heavy-hitting Red Sox made an early statement on Monday night at Fenway Park that they can handle even the elite pitchers.
In their first matchup of the season against the Indians, Boston jumped out quickly to a 3-0 lead over the first two innings against Indians ace Corey Kluber, last season's American League Cy Young Award winner.
Though Kluber mowed down the tough 1-2 tandem of Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi, the Sox quickly generated a two-out rally. Mitch Moreland got it started with a single to left.
