BOSTON -- Lefty prospect Brian Johnson was rewarded for his strong season at Triple-A by getting called up to the Red Sox before Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Yankees.
Ranked as Boston's No. 6 prospect by MLB.com, Johnson will work out of the bullpen this weekend, but is likely to move into the rotation after the All-Star break to help fill in for Clay Buchholz, who is on the disabled list with a strained right flexor.
BOSTON -- The Yankees rode pinpoint control from righty starter Michael Pineda en route to a 5-1 victory in Friday night's opener of a three-game rivalry showdown against the Red Sox.
