The Red Sox and the Yankees faced off for the first game in a 3 game set. The Sox had rookie Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound vs. Ivan Nova for the Yankees. The Yankees scored first, but thanks to homers from Mookie Betts and David Ortiz the Sox were able to snag the lead. Jean Machi struggled in the 9th, but was able to just barely squeak out the save.
The Yankees struck first when they got a single run off of Rodriguez in the 1st inning. Rodriguez loaded the bases with no outs to start the game.
