Six-time Red Sox All-Star Frank Malzone dies at age 85

Frank Malzone, a six-time All-Star who played 11 seasons with the Red Sox from 1955 through 1965, died Tuesday at the age of 85.

Malzone was born in the Bronx and reportedly grew up a fan of the New York Yankees, but he made his name in Boston, hitting .292 with 103 RBIs in his rookie season as a 27-year-old in ‘57. He was an All-Star that year, winning the Gold Glove Award at third base and finishing seventh in American League MVP voting.
