Dustin Pedroia in the bottom half of the Red Sox lineup lasted less than a week. After five games in the six hole – his first ever big league games in that spot in the order – Pedroia is back in the leadoff spot tonight.
He hit .412 with a .500 on-base percentage after the demotion.
“When we made the move a week ago, in my conversations with Pedey, there was not really an end line, an end timeline to this,” manager John Farrell said. “Felt like getting past the knee soreness, getting his feet underneath him, running full tilt, where that wasn’t the case the first couple of games back, felt like we’re ready to get back to the alignment we started the season with.
