Silverman: Red Sox safety measures are nothing to cry foul about

Sorry, I’m not sorry if you have a problem with the Red Sox extending the protective netting at Fenway Park.

If you feel that more netting somehow infringes on your ability to enjoy a game, then I’ve just lumped you in with climate-change deniers, moon-landing skeptics and those who still sneer at reminders that it’s actually a good idea to wear a seat belt, and bike and ski helmets.

Then again, I’m probably the wrong guy to ask why it makes sense to give fans a fighting chance to defend themselves from life-threatening projectiles moving at frighteningly furious speeds.
