BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Travis Shaw's winter ball season lasted for all of one game.
The Red Sox planned for Shaw to play third base in the Puerto Rico Winter League, but after going 0-for-4 in the season-opener for Santurce, he reported discomfort in his right shoulder. Shaw was diagnosed with what Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski characterized as "an impingement," and was sent home to undergo therapy over the next few weeks.
"In a couple weeks it should be fine," Dombrowski said Monday, as the annual general managers' meetings got underway at the Boca Raton Resort and Club.
