BOSTON -- Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval had to leave Wednesday night's game in the sixth inning against the White Sox due to dehydration.
Infielder Josh Rutledge made his Red Sox debut and replaced Sandoval at the hot corner. Sandoval, who was thrown out while trying to score from first base in the third, finished 0-for-1 with a walk.
Sandoval's first season in Boston has seen a dip in production from the 28-year-old who played a pivotal role in the Giants' run of three World Series victories in five seasons. He is batting .
