Sandoval done for 2015 due to pneumonia

BOSTON -- Pablo Sandoval's frustrating first season with the Red Sox is over. Due to his recent bout with pneumonia, Sandoval won't play again this season.

"Pablo still has pneumonia," Red Sox interim manager Torey Lovullo said after Boston's 8-0 win over Baltimore on Saturday. "He's not going to making the trip with us, and it's very doubtful that he'll play again this season."

The Red Sox were excited about the acquisition of Sandoval, signing him to a five-year, $95 million contract.

But as was the case with fellow free agent signee Hanley Ramirez, Sandoval was inconsistent on offense (.
