FORT MYERS — He stands still when he talks, hands behind his back, rarely offering a smile or a joke because he’s too focused on his job and serious about letting nothing get in his way.
Sam Travis might loosen up as he gains comfort, experience and status as a professional baseball player, but as one of the youngest players in Red Sox camp this spring, all he wants to do is work.
“The calmer you are, you control your emotions and trust your abilities,” he said. “That’s how I’ve always been.”
