For the third year in a row, Chris Sale will be the American League's starting pitcher for the All-Star Game presented by Mastercard (Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX), AL manager AJ Hinch revealed on Monday.
Sale joins Lefty Gomez (AL, 1933-35) and Robin Roberts (National League, 1953-55) as the only pitchers to make three consecutive pitching starts in the Midsummer Classic.
Sale, the lanky 6-foot-6 lefty that possesses elite velocity and wipeout secondary pitches, is in the midst of another dominant season -- one that could finally see him claim the coveted AL Cy Young Award that is missing from his mantle.
