TORONTO -- Chris Sale had his strikeout pitch working on Friday night in Toronto as he sat down 15 Blue Jays, which ties his career high and is his most with the Red Sox.
Sale allowed a run in each of the first two innings and didn't look like his typically dominant self, but he quickly corrected that through the middle innings. He struck out the side in both the fourth and fifth innings, with all six of those strikeouts coming on a swinging third strike.
It looked like Sale might be done after eight innings and 104 pitches, but he came back out for the ninth and needed just 12 more pitches to get through his final frame to send the game to extra innings.
