Meanwhile, Infante tried to circle the bases for an inside-the-park homer, but Bradley made an incredible throw from deep left-center field that was right on line to home plate and Infante was easily tagged out at the plate by catcher Ryan Hanigan. Infante, in fact, came up well short of the plate with his slide.
The Royals challenged that Hanigan was blocking the plate. The out call stood after review, and Hanigan, it was determined, did not block the plate.
Drew Butera and Alcides Escobar singled, and after Ben Zobrist lined out, Lorenzo Cain singled to load the bases.
