The Red Sox will not retain Ron Roenicke as manager in 2021, the team announced Sunday, just hours before the season finale against the Braves.
Roenicke took over this season after Alex Cora and the team parted ways following his alleged actions in a sign-stealing scandal that engulfed Major League Baseball during the offseason.
A search for a new manager will begin immediately, chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom said in the announcement.
“Throughout this difficult season, Ron’s consistency and professionalism kept the environment in our clubhouse productive and gave all of our players room to grow and develop,” Bloom said.
