Robbie Ross Jr. may not officially have the title of Red Sox’ closer, but he’s likely to see some more looks in the ninth inning.
Ross might’ve been a forgotten man after he began the season with a 6.17 ERA through 13 appearances, but the Red Sox remain hopeful in the pitcher who held a 2.62 ERA out of the Rangers’ bullpen in 2012-2013.
Ross recorded his first career save on Sept. 4 against the Phillies. Each of his last three appearances have come in the ninth inning.
“He’s stepped up to every challenge so far,” said Lovullo.
