BALTIMORE – The Red Sox have no documentation to suggest Robbie Ross Jr. was injured while on the big league roster, but that’s the only way the timeline works, and so the team took back Ross’s minor league option and instead placed him on the major league disabled list with left elbow inflammation.
“You sort back through the treatments, the medical log,” manager John Farrell said. “He hadn’t pitched a game down there (in Triple-A) yet and complained of the ailment. So, you have to say that it happened here, which we have no record of any needs from a physical standpoint.
