The Fenway Park crowd was growing restless in the third inning last night, and Rick Porcello then walked Steven Souza Jr. to load the bases, and big trouble was imminent. Pockets of fans started booing as Red Sox pitching coach Carl Willis walked out from the dugout for a visit in an effort to calm down his ace.
But last night, nothing was going to save Porcello and the Red Sox dropped a 10-5 decision. It was just one of those nights — a rare one for the Sox starter who never had an outing quite like this in last year’s Cy Young-winning season.
