Rick Porcello falls short in Red Sox' loss to Royals

KANSAS CITY — Life on the road, especially against the world champs, turned out to be not so kind to the Red Sox Tuesday night.

In the first game of this series, the Red Sox' offense could not overcome the roughest start of the year from Rick Porcello, who allowed all five runs (four earned) in his five-inning, shortest-yet start, as the Royals took an 8-4 victory.

Travis Shaw's three-run home run in the sixth inning brought the Red Sox back into the game and also helped to knock out previously sharp Royals' starter Yordano Ventura from the game.
