Report: Red Sox’ attempt to trade Tristan Casas for pitching was ‘shot down’ by Seattle

According to two reports, the Red Sox are not done searching for additional arm talent after landing Garrett Crochet.

According to both the Seattle Times and MLB.com, the Red Sox attempted to trade slugger Triston Casas to the Mariners in exchange for a starting pitcher.

“Earlier this offseason the Mariners shot down a one-for-one offer that would have sent one of Seattle’s young starters, Bryce Miller or Bryan Woo, to Boston for 24-year-old first baseman Triston Casas,” the Seattle Times report reads.

Earlier this month. Alex Speier of The Boston Globe wrote that the Red Sox have been open to using Casas as a trade chip to bring in pitching.
