Report: Eduardo Rodriguez advised to rest for 3-4 weeks

NEW YORK – Eduardo Rodriguez’s latest knee injury could have the young Red Sox starter out of the mix until after the All-Star break.

According to a report from CSN New England, Rodriguez’s exam with Dr. James Andrews ended with a recommendation that Rodriguez rest for three to four weeks in an attempt to avoid surgery.

Even if he doesn’t require surgery this season, Rodriguez would remain a candidate for surgery at some point due to the repeated subluxations in his right knee.

The Red Sox have not confirmed the report.

“I saw that report, but, we are not sure where it came from,” president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski wrote in an email.
