The Don Orsillo era appears to be ending NESN.
The network will part ways with its longtime play-by-play announcer by the end of this season, WEEI radio and WCVB-TV reported. WCVB reported he will be replaced by Dave O'Brien, who currently calls Red Sox games on the radio.
Orsillo has been the primary Red Sox announcer for NESN since 2001, teamed with analyst Jerry Remy.
Orsillo called the Red Sox game in Chicago last night and was set to call tonight’s game also.
Neither Orsillo nor NESN has commented on the report.
