Reexamining Red Sox Errors at the Season’s Quarter Mark

During Wednesday’s Red Sox game against Tampa Bay, in the sixth inning, I realized that Brayan Bello had already induced ten ground balls from the Rays. The game was under control, Bello was pitching solidly, the Sox were leading… and somewhat remarkably, our defense was handling these ground balls with ease.

Ten ground balls without a complete defensive meltdown? This would have been impossible not so long ago.

I had the strong feeling that we’ve committed fewer errors recently, but I wasn’t sure if maybe I only wanted it to be true. Now that we’re about 25% through the season, it seems like a good time to see where we are.
