BALTIMORE – From the guy who started it, to the guy who finished it, through all of the run scoring in between, Saturday night was a Red Sox win that almost perfectly followed the ideal script for winning a close game.
Get some much-needed power from the middle of the order, manufacture some breathing room late, have the starting pitcher provide some meaningful distance, and let the nearly untouchable closer finish the job.
It was as easy as that in a 5-2 win against the Orioles at Camden Yards, a win that pushed the Red Sox back into second-place in the American League East, snapped Hanley Ramirez out of a home run drought, and put to bed any lingering questions about David Price’s potential to be a game-changer.
