Red Sox vs. Yankees lineup: They’re gonna do it

For nearly a century the Red Sox (78-34) were defined by their most excruciating losses, usually to the Yankees (68-41). The playoff losses are easy to remember, or just hard to forget, but there are regular season slumps that linger long after the last out of the year. The original (well, not original original) Boston Massacre occurred in 1978, when the first-place Red Sox lost four straight at home by a combined 42-9 in what would be come the Bucky Dent year, and the 2006 Yankees did them one better by sweeping a 5-game series.
