The Red Sox return to Boston after a terrible road trip to start the season, the bad feelings from which could be wiped clean with a good win on what promises to be a festive day. The losses can’t be wiped away, but a Yankees fan friend of mine said the trip reminded him of the 1998 team — which merely won 114 games — and its early season struggles with a Pacific trip. So I looked it up and he was sorta right. They started 1-4 on a weird trip through Anaheim, Oakland and Seattle, but then they won the next 8 games and more or less all the rest of them after that, too.
Red Sox vs. Blue Jays lineup: Pedey’s back for the home opener! (Now how about everyone else?)
